A Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) cell using plasma arc/wire deposition for the production of large metallic components (steel, titanium and Inconel) under a controlled inert atmosphere.
The system incorporates in-line monitoring and a TILT axis to optimize material deposition and accommodate complex geometries. It enables industrial deposition rates and supports scaling to component lengths of up to 5 metres.
Equipment
- Sealed Ar/He (argon/helium) chamber.
- EWM technologies:
- Plasma (ColdWire/HotWire).
- ForceTIG (ColdWire/HotWire). - - Maximum component dimensions: 1,300 × 900 × 500 mm (maximum weight: 300 kg).
- - Reference deposition rates:
- Steel: up to 5 kg/h.
- Ti6Al4V: up to 3 kg/h.
- Inconel 718: up to 4 kg/h.
- WAAM process parameter development
- Prototype and pre-series production
- Material and process validation under controlled atmospheric conditions
- Technical training
