A laboratory specialising in the design, prototyping and validation of very high-density electric motors and power converters, particularly for safety-critical transport applications (aeronautics, rail, automotive, maritime and lifting). It enables the experimental validation of power electronics systems and electric machines, both individually and in highly integrated applications, by subjecting them to extreme electrical, thermal, environmental and mechanical stresses under controlled conditions. Equipped for the analysis of electrical insulation and partial discharges.

• Three test benches for electrical machines covering complementary speed ranges (<6,000 rpm, 6,000–18,000 rpm, 18,000–60,000 rpm) up to 1 MW
• LNEYA KRYO-A38W-2S oil-cooling system (34 kW, 60 l/min, 10 bar)
• UC 65 E7 PI3/5 BSP water/glycol cooling system (87.5 kW, 196 l/min, 5 bar)
• Weiss Technik SkyEvent TAH 1500 climatic chamber (-70 to 120°C, 0.005–1 bar, up to 400 kg)
• IMV A30/SA3HAG vibration test rig (up to 2,600 Hz, 900 m/s² sinusoidal, 400 kg)
• High-speed motor characterisation equipment up to 45 krpm
• Megger MIT515 and MIT1525 megaohmmeters
• OMICRON MPD800 PD
• Picoscope 642E

• Testing of machines and converters in accordance with IEC 60034 (winding resistance, no-load, short-circuit, efficiency, thermal, overspeed, insulation resistance, withstand voltage, terminal marking, off-line partial discharge)
• DO160 tests (temperature and altitude, temperature variation, humidity, operational shocks, vibration)
• MIL-STD 810 tests
• Characterisation of insulation defects and partial discharges
• Design and prototyping of high-power-density electric motors
