- Physical Sciences
The facility is equipped with the following equipment and technologies:
- Environmental chambers for accelerated corrosion testing: Used to conduct accelerated corrosion tests under controlled temperature and humidity conditions. An aggressive electrolyte, typically based on hydrochloric acid at different pH levels, is used with or without oxidizing agents (e.g., cupric ions).
- Electrochemical corrosion cells: Used to expose the system under investigation to an aggressive electrolyte, such as an acidic or alkaline solution or one containing chlorides or fluorides. Different cell configurations are available, including anti-crevice cells, temperature-controlled cells, flat horizontal cells, and environmental control cells.
- AC/DC potentiostats: Used to perform various electrochemical techniques to determine corrosion resistance or corrosion rates in specific environments or electrolytes.
- Electrochemical workstation for localized corrosion: Enables localized corrosion analysis using low-conductivity electrolytes as aggressive media, employing techniques such as LEIS, SVET, and ac/ic-SECM.
- Scanning Kelvin Probe (SKP): Used to investigate localized corrosion with and without the presence of an electrolyte.
- Tribometer equipped with a corrosion cell: Used to perform tribocorrosion testing to evaluate the combined effects of wear and corrosion.
