A laboratory dedicated to the development, implementation, and validation of advanced industrial control and automation solutions, based on the integration of real control hardware and specialised software libraries.

It combines industrial PLC systems, data acquisition electronics, and advanced modelling libraries, enabling the development of complete solutions, from control algorithm design to implementation on real hardware.

The laboratory has proprietary PLC libraries for Siemens and Beckhoff environments, as well as MATLAB/Simulink libraries for advanced control, power electronics, electrical machines, and signal processing.

Equipment

• Siemens S7 CPUs (S7-1200/S7-1500)
• Beckhoff industrial PCs and embedded PLCs (CX series and cabinet-mounted IPCs)
• Digital, analogue, and multifunction I/O modules
• Physical variable measurement equipment (RTD and thermocouple temperature sensors, vibration, dynamic signals, and electrical measurements)
• Industrial networks and fieldbuses (EtherCAT, PROFINET, CAN/CANopen, PROFIBUS)
• Industrial interfaces (Ethernet, RS232, gateways)
• Motor control modules (stepper and servo drives, PWM, encoders)
• Proprietary Beckhoff and Siemens libraries (communications, HMI, motion control, and control logic)
• MATLAB/Simulink libraries for control, power electronics, electrical machines, and signal processing

• Development of control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink
• Definition of control system architectures and standardisation of control software
• Integration of PLCs, I/O systems, and industrial communication networks
• PLC programming for Beckhoff and Siemens platforms using proprietary libraries
• Validation of control solutions on real hardware
• Operational, robustness, and dynamic behaviour testing
