Description

Roll-to-roll laser cutting equipment for battery electrodes that complements the BATEK pilot plant for the development of Gen 3 and Gen 4 batteries.

The system integrates a versatile laser cutting station (continuous or pulsed mode) capable of operating over a 35 × 35 cm area, a roll-to-roll module that feeds the electrode directly from the coating machine to optimize processing time and minimize material waste, and a gas and particle extraction and filtration system that prevents contamination of the electrodes and cells.

It enables the study and optimization of cutting processes for different electrode formats under conditions representative of industrial production.

Equipment

  • Laser cutting module with continuous and pulsed operation
  • Laser head with a working area of 35 × 35 cm
  • Roll-to-roll system with automatic electrode unwinding and feed (feed accuracy ≈ 500 µm) and automatic unloading of cut electrodes
  • Extraction system with three-stage EPA filters and a filtration capacity of up to 1,400 m³/h, integrated into the battery pilot plant environment

Services
  • Development and optimization of laser cutting strategies for electrodes used in different cell formats
  • Reduction of processing time and material waste through continuous roll-to-roll feeding
  • Validation of cutting parameters under conditions representative of industrial production
  • Support for R&D projects and industrial collaborations in Gen 3/Gen 4 battery technologies and beyond
