Deskribapena

The NATURKLIMA Lab specializes in the advanced characterization of new materials, including recycled materials, materials with a low environmental impact, and emerging energy storage technologies.

The facility supports both the development of sustainable technologies and the assessment of the life cycle, durability, and technical feasibility of unconventional materials.

The laboratory incorporates an X-ray computed tomography (X-ray CT) system designed for the non-destructive 3D characterization of materials and battery cells. This infrastructure makes it possible to visualize the internal microstructure, porosity, and defects of electrodes, separators, and complete cells, as well as to study the evolution of structural degradation throughout cycling. These capabilities complement the existing physicochemical and electrochemical characterization techniques.

Equipment

  • Solid-state physicochemical analysis equipment (BET, TGA, DSC, XRD).
  • Equipment for measuring electrochemical properties in experimental cells.
  • Infrastructure for the pretreatment and analysis of recycled materials.
  • Instrumentation for thermal and structural characterization.
  • Integration with testing facilities and dry rooms.
  • Software for modeling and sustainability analysis.
  • Laboratory X-ray computed tomography (X-ray CT) system, including:
    - An X-ray source and high-resolution detector.
    - A high-precision sample stage for analyzing specimens ranging from material samples to complete battery cells.
    - A 3D reconstruction and analysis workstation for phase segmentation, porosity measurement, and monitoring of internal defects.
