Descripción

A laboratory dedicated to the development and characterization of metallic materials through theoretical, mechanical and microstructural analysis.

The facility incorporates water models to simulate steelmaking operations and processes, including ladles, tundishes, moulds and ingot moulds. These capabilities are complemented by numerical thermodynamic and transport simulations to support process design and optimization.

Equipment

  • Melting furnaces with controlled-atmosphere capabilities (30 g–1 tonne).
  • Heat treatment furnaces (muffle furnace and salt bath furnace).
  • Dilatometer.
  • Mechanical and microstructural characterization equipment.
  • Water models simulating:
    - Ladles.
    - Tundishes.
    - Moulds.
    - Ingot moulds.
  • Simulation software:
    - Abaqus.
    - ANSYS Fluent.
    - Thermo-Calc / Dictra.
    - JMatPro.
