Descripción

This pilot plant is dedicated to the development and production of thin, flexible, multifunctional sheets known as buckypapers. These materials combine nanomaterials with advanced properties such as electrical conductivity, porosity, sensing capabilities and thermal resistance.

The sheets are based on Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) and offer unique advantages over conventional materials, including low weight, flexibility, stable electrical properties and the ability to be directly integrated into thermoplastic or thermoset composites.

The infrastructure allows key properties such as thickness, density, surface area and porosity to be tailored to specific end-use applications.

Equipment

  • Continuous sheet production pilot line:
    - Maximum width: 300 mm.
    - Production capacity: over 50 m²/week.
  • Adjustable grammage range: 20–60 g/m².
  • Wet filtration system for nanomaterials dispersed in water.
  • Processing capabilities for other nano- and micromaterials in addition to MWCNTs.
  • Equipment for integrating buckypapers into composite materials.
  • Manufacturing environment with control of critical parameters, including thickness, density and conductivity.
  • Sustainable manufacturing practices based on the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) principles, in accordance with CWA 17935:2022.
  • Active patent: EP18382078.6 – Method for Increasing Buckypaper Thickness.
