Access protocol

A scientific committee, composed by the leaders of different research lines at DIPC, evaluates each access request to our computing resources. Scientists affiliated to several departments of UPV/EHU, the Materials Physics Center, CIC nanoGUNE, and Ikerbasque have access to the DIPC computational resources provided they develop a high-quality scientific project and their computational needs fit with the available computing architectures.

Description

The DIPC Computer Center provides DIPC researchers with access to poweful systems for high-performance computing, scientific applications support, personal computers, data storage and web sites hosting.

As for 2018 Atlas is the most powerful cluster-like supercomputing system at DIPC Supercomputing Facilities. It is a custom system, based on Intel processors, SSD storage devices, and Infiniband interconnection.

  • Nodes: 211 computing nodes featuring two Intel Xeon E5-2683 v4 and 245 GB of usable RAM each.
  • Total amount of cores: 260
  • Total amount of memory: 80 TB of global scratch storage
  • Interconnect architecture:  56 Gb/s FDR Infiniband and an additional 1Gb/s Ethernet network for management.
Services

Administration of several types of high performance computing clusters and shared memory machines Installation, configuration and license management of scientific software More than 180 TB of mass storage to store files related to the simulations User support service Service cluster with virtual machines to provide several additional services (like Single sing-on, bakcups, statistics, accounting...) Hosting for other centers Advice for other centers on purchasing supercomputers and/or installing and configuring them Courses for the researches on the use of the DIPC computing resources
